Owen Gund
Sports Broadcaster

Welcome, and thanks for your interest in my work.
I’m currently the play-by-play voice for the University of Vermont men’s and women’s hockey teams, bringing the energy, emotion, and storytelling of college hockey to fans across New England and beyond.
During the 2025-26 season, I was selected by Hockey East to broadcast the 2026 Hockey East men’s semifinal and championship games at TD Garden on WEEI 850 AM, an exciting opportunity to call one of college hockey’s premier championship events.
Prior to Vermont, I spent two seasons with the South Carolina Stingrays (ECHL) as Director of Communications and Broadcasting, calling more than 150 professional hockey games while leading the club’s media relations, content strategy, and digital communications efforts. In 2024-25, I was honored to be named a finalist for the ECHL Media/PR Director of the Year Award.
My career has taken me behind the microphone and behind the scenes with organizations including Boston University Athletics, Hockey East, College Hockey News, BBIG Communications, WTBU Sports, and BU Today. Those experiences have shaped my approach as a broadcaster: prepare relentlessly, tell compelling stories, and build strong relationships with the people who make the game special.
Whether I’m calling a championship game, producing content, or collaborating with coaches, players, and front-office staff, I’m passionate about helping audiences connect with the moments and personalities that define sports.
When I’m not behind the mic, you’ll find me playing hockey or tennis, bringing a healthy competitive streak to games of cornhole and spikeball, or continuing my search for the best chicken parm. So far, the search continues.
